I have experience coding in a variety of scripting languages, both server side and client side. One of the criteria I set myself creating websites is that they should be able to be updated by anyone. To this end my recent projects have all focused around Content Management Systems, allowing the client a simple interface to update the site to their wishes without compromising the site design or usability.

Examples of my code can be seen, and used, below.

Client Side

I use strict XHTML when coding sites as it allows better integration other languages and scripts.

I'm experienced using XML and XSL. Especially when manipulating and displaying feeds.

I use Javascript a lot to produce dynamic content for my sites. Often this links in directly with the server side script, via AJAX. I generall use the Prototype library ro improve loading and efficiency of my code.

All sites need styling to function. My sites all have efficient erxternal styling that is compatible with all the modern browsers. Recently I have been working with CSS3 styles.

Server Side

PHP is often my first choice for server side coding as it allows such easy compatibility with SQL databases. It also allows is incredibly fast to compile and can be dynamically altered using Javascript to create complex dynamic content.

Most of my database work is done using SQL. Since 2000 I have been creating and improving the way in which I create, sort and protect the databases that I use.

I have experience using the MS Access database system, having used it alongside Coldfusion for a recent project in which I added CMS capability for a company.

During my formulative years creating websites I almost exclusively used Dreamweaver and Coldfusion, although I have since moved away from this type of coding and the use of Coldfusion. The last work I did in Coldfusion was to create a shopping system that received payment data from Paypal.

API's

When working with existing websites where the content is not the users the use of API's is necessary to facilitate design.

When creating a Blogspot it was necessary to use the Blogger API to manipulate posts for other platforms, including Twitter and Facebook.

The Facebook API has is complicated, but also allows a lot autonomy to the developer. In creating the Facebook App it was necessary to link it to the Blogger API.
